In a somber turn of events, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are delving into the details surrounding the death of a 4-year-old female juvenile in the 4800 block of Civic Center Way, East Los Angeles.
The incident unfolded on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at approximately 11:09 p.m., when deputies from the East Los Angeles Station responded to a call reporting a child assault.
Upon reaching the scene, deputies discovered the victim, a female juvenile, unresponsive inside a vehicle.
Immediate efforts were made to transport her to a local area hospital, but tragically, she was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The victim’s mother, identified as a female Hispanic adult, was detained at the scene and later arrested for murder, deputies said.
The preliminary findings from the Department of Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as homicide.
