“The three-year-old gelding Luxury Brand fell during the gallop out for the ninth race Saturday night, requiring euthanasia,” CHRB spokesman Mike Marten told City News Service on Monday.
No further information was available about his death, which was listed as “musculoskeletal” on the CHRB’s website.
Luxury Brand had six races and three first-place finishes in his career, with all his races taking place at Los Alamitos. He was owned by Dunn Ranch, trained by Monty Arrossa, and his jockey was Armando Cervantes.
He is the fourth horse to die from a racing or training injury at the Cypress track this year.
