OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Even amidst challenging conditions over the weekend, 15-year-old surfer Eden Walla made her presence known during Oceanside’s Super Girl Surf Pro competition.
The San Clemente surfer took the title Sunday, becoming the youngest person to ever win the cape while earning a score of 13.00. The young athlete beat out Tahiti’s Kiara Goold, 14, who scored 11.77.

“Walla stayed busy and found herself into an afternoon gem to unleash more of her sharp, backhand attack and accrued a 7.33 to take a commanding lead over the Tahitian,” officials with the surf competition stated in a news release announcing the results.
In an interview post-surf, Walla explained that she tried to channel all of the energy that she had left into that last heat Sunday.
“It means so much to me. I’ve been watching this contest for so long and thank you to all my friends for supporting me, they’re the best,” said Walla.
