Class I Recall for Vegetable Products Due to E. coli

The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class I recall for a range of vegetable products produced by 4Earth Farms of Commerce, California. This classification signifies a significant risk of serious adverse health consequences or even death from the use or exposure to these products, most notably due to potential Escherichia coli (E. coli) contamination. The affected products from 4Earth Farms include Organic Vegetable Medley, Conventional Vegetable Medley, Organic Whole Carrots, and more. These items were sold at Walmart with specific “Best by” dates between September 7, 2024, and November 2, 2024. E. coli infections can be severe, especially for vulnerable populations like young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

It is crucial for individuals who may have purchased these products to discard them immediately and thoroughly clean any surfaces they touched. Grimmway Farms also issued recalls for various carrot products due to potential E. coli contamination. Measures are being taken by both companies to address the situation and ensure product safety in the future. Consumers who have purchased any of the affected vegetable products are strongly advised to check their refrigerators and dispose of these items promptly. E. coli contamination can lead to symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, and in severe cases, it can result in serious complications. It’s important to monitor for any signs of illness and seek medical attention if necessary, especially if consumed by high-risk individuals.
