Long Beach has seen a flurry of police activity regarding firearms over the last couple of days. Early in the morning on January 12, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were called to the 2400 Block of Linden Avenue due to reports of gunfire. Officers found evidence of a shooting, though, fortunately, no one was reported to have been injured. The details concerning the suspects and the motivations behind the incident remain unclear, as the LBPD continues to investigate.
The LBPD had more success in recovering illegal firearms on January 11. During a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue at around 10:11 p.m., officers were able to safely remove two guns and apprehend the suspects. In a separate incident earlier that day, at around 4:18 p.m., officers likewise recovered two firearms from an individual at the corner of Anaheim Street and Dawson Avenue during a pedestrian check.
