Juvenile Charged with Murder in Huntington Beach Flare Gun Shooting Death

A juvenile was charged with murder after a fatal flare gun shooting in Huntington Beach, as reported by the Huntington Beach Police Department. The incident occurred on Friday night, around 8:40 p.m., near the intersection of Florida Street and Utica Avenue, where officers discovered a man with a life-threatening wound inflicted by a flare gun, KTLA reports.

Following the initial response, paramedics from the Huntington Beach Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital where he later died, the suspect, a minor, had attempted to flee the area but was quickly apprehended by police and the weapon used in the killing was recovered; these details were shared by authorities and despite the gravity of the situation preliminary findings from detectives suggest that this was an isolated event and there is no ongoing threat to the public, CBS Los Angeles reports.
