The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) will hold a gun buyback event on Saturday, June 28, offering residents an opportunity to exchange firearms for gift cards.
Taking place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.), the event is part of the City’s broader effort to reduce gun violence and promote public safety. The event is supported by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn’s office.
Participants will remain in their vehicles and are asked to store unloaded firearms in their trunk. LBPD detectives will collect the weapons directly, after which residents will receive a gift card based on the type and condition of the firearm.
The gift card values are as follows:
- $50 for non-working firearms
- $100 for operational pistols, rifles or shotguns
- $200 for ghost guns (untraceable firearms with no serial number)
- $300 for assault weapons
The value of other types of firearms, such as 3D-printed guns, will be assessed on site…
