Man Dies After Fleeing Immigration Agents at Monrovia in California

A man was killed Thursday morning after fleeing a federal immigration raid at a Home Depot in Los Angeles County. Witnesses say Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were present at the Monrovia store shortly before the man ran toward a nearby freeway, where he was struck by a vehicle. The incident, part of a wave of recent Southern California raids, has intensified criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration enforcement tactics. Officials confirmed multiple detentions but little else about the operation.

Authorities confirmed ICE agents were spotted at a Home Depot in Monrovia shortly before 10 a.m. City police were present, but local officials say they received no advance communication about the raid.

Fatal Escape Attempt

Shortly after the raid began, fire and rescue crews responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on the 210 Freeway. The man, whose identity has not been released, died at a nearby hospital.
