Huntington Beach Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Armed Convicted Felon, Multiple Charges Filed

Early Wednesday morning, Huntington Beach police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle, sparking a pursuit that ended with the arrest of a convicted felon. The chase began near Huntington Street and Portland Circle and quickly escalated, prompting the deployment of tactical units and an armored vehicle for protection, as reported by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The man in question, Anh Tran, 33 of Garden Grove, crashed his vehicle at Adams Avenue and Main Street and proceeded to flee on foot, brandishing a shotgun, which was later discharged. Tran managed to elude immediate capture by hiding in a backyard on Shipley Street before being spotted by the Air Support Unit HB1. The official statement by the Huntington Beach Police Department relayed that Tran was “later taken into custody without incident.”

Following his arrest, Tran was booked with multiple charges, including assault with a firearm on an officer, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and possession of ammunition by a felon, among other drug-related offenses, as per the Huntington Beach Police Department.
