Online dating app used in burglary of man’s Southern California home

Police in Orange County arrested a man accused of utilizing a dating app to burglarize a person’s home who they went out on a date with just hours after releasing his photo on Wednesday.

While the Santa Ana Police Department did not specify exactly what app was used in the incident nor when the alleged burglary occurred, they said the victim reported meeting a man who went by the name Eric on the app and agreed to go out on a date with him.

“The suspect learned where the victim lived after picking him up,” SAPD said in a Facebook post.

Surveillance cameras at the victim’s home captured the same man forcibly entering his home a week later. Inside the home, the suspect went through the victim’s belongings and made off with an estimated $1,000 worth of property.
