Tesla crashes into Newport Beach home moments after children leave room

A dangerous crash narrowly avoided tragedy Friday night when a driver plunged through the walls of a family’s home in Newport Beach, officials said.

The Newport Beach Fire Department said crews responded around 11:23 p.m. to reports of a vehicle collision near Mariners Drive and Antigue Way in the Dover Shores neighborhood.

“The car came to rest inside a downstairs bedroom where two children had been moments earlier,” officials said in a statement. “Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and this incident could have been much worse.”

Video from the scene shows a white Tesla embedded in the side of the home with its hazard lights flashing and heavy front-end damage. The vehicle appeared to have crashed in reverse through a white picket fence before coming to rest inside the home…
