Stanton Residents Appeal $1M in Fireworks Fines

Stanton issued nearly $1 million in fines to 18 property owners following a crackdown on illegal fireworks during the Fourth of July. The city utilized a new drone program to monitor and document violations, resulting in citations ranging from $1,000 to $300,000. The property owners who incurred the fines have all filed appeals against them.

Stanton Mayor David Shawver emphasized the importance of accountability, suggesting that property owners could explore payment plans or loans to manage the fines. The city had previously informed residents about the new regulations through social media, mail, and flyers, warning that property owners would be held responsible for illegal fireworks activities on their properties.
