NYC Budget Expert to Brief LA Commission as Charter Review Picks Up Pace

LOS ANGELES – The City will be taking some notes on budgeting from the Big Apple this afternoon, with the City Charter Reform Commission expected to hear a presentation from New York City Executive Deputy Comptroller for Budget and Finance, Francesco Brindisi.

At 1 P.M., commissioners and community members will meet in the USC Rosen Family Theatre (Ronald Tutor Campus Center Room 227) to hear a presentation from Brindisi about the NYC budget process, financial plans, and past fiscal emergency acts.

Mayor Karen Bass created the Charter Reform Commission in August 2024 to review and propose amendments to the city’s foundational governing document. The charter has not undergone major updates since 1999 and “serves as the city’s constitution, outlining the roles, powers, and responsibilities of city officials and departments,” according to the commission…
