Council moves forward with hospital action plan in response to possible ER closure

City Council this week unanimously agreed to move forward with a Mission Hospital strategy framework for the city to approach the possible closure of the emergency room and larger site changes at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.

Councilmembers voted 4-0 (Mayor Pro Tem Hallie Jones was absent) on Tuesday (March 10) to adopt the action plan, which focuses on gathering data, including community input and evaluating all options. The action also directed the city manager and ad hoc committee to work with the city clerk on timing for a community advisory committee, members of which will be interviewed and selected by the full council.
