A ‘Century of Stars’ at HBHS

When the auditorium on the Huntington Beach High School campus first opened in 1926, what’s now “Surf City USA” was just a sleepy beach town with lots of oil wells.

HBHS was the first and only high school in the district (Westminster High didn’t come along until 1959) and the closest other secondary school in Orange County was Garden Grove Union High (1921). One hundred years later that facility – with its iconic bell tower – will be celebrated on Saturday, April 17 in “A Century of Stars and Stories” at 7 p.m.

There will be some light snacks and live music with proceeds going to renovations in the “green room” (where performers wait before going on stage). Cake will be served during intermission…
