DECATUR, Ala. — A weekend of celebration, community events and connection is coming to Downtown Decatur and Ingalls Harbor as River City Pride Weekend returns June 5 through June 7.
The Southeastern Diversity Project is hosting the three day event, which features a parade, festival, 5K and community gathering designed to bring together LGBTQIA individuals, families, allies and supporters from across the Tennessee Valley and beyond.
The weekend schedule includes:
- Friday, June 5 – River City Pride Parade and After Party
- The parade will roll at 6 p.m. from 2nd Avenue to Founders Park.
- The doors of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center will open at 7 p.m. DJ Big Joey will keep the dance floor going until 10 p.m.
- Saturday, June 6 – River City Pride 5K and River City Pride Festival at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion
- The 5K begins at 8 a.m. The course starts at Ingalls Harbor and follows Brickyard Landing along the river.
- The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature vendors, community organizations, food, entertainment, music, art and family-friendly activities. Organizers say there is still time to register for vending.
- Sunday, June 7 – Picnic, Prayers and Pride
- The event brings the community together for a shared meal and reflection on the state of the community. People of all faiths and no faith are welcome to attend, offer prayers or well wishes and take part in fellowship. This year’s picnic will be held at The Church at Stone River.
