Thousands without power as heavy storms roll through north Alabama, damage reported

Heavy storms brought down power lines and trees as they rolled through Morgan County Monday afternoon.

According to Decatur Utilities, 4,288 customers were without power as of 2:30 p.m. Another 4,594 outages were reported by Joe Wheeler Electrical Co-Op with additional outages in Hartselle.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said there are numerous roadway hazards and people should use caution while driving. If a traffic signal is not working, treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Do not attempt to move downed power lines, officials said…
