HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A federal lawsuit accusing the Huntsville Police Department’s dispatch division of a systemic culture of discrimination, pregnancy bias, and severe workplace retaliation has culminated in a settlement for one of the former employees, according to court records.
Allison Ellis, a former HPD part-time dispatcher and Seventh-day Sabbath keeper, officially closed her case on May 28, following federal appellate mediation. Ellis had sued the City and her supervisor, Lt. Michael Danley, alleging they weaponized her faith against her.
According to court documents, the scheduling conflict was manufactured as retribution after Ellis filed an internal complaint against Sgt. Dana Springfield, who allegedly told her, “You know, Allison, I might not let you come back to work following maternity leave once you pop out that baby.”…
