LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — At BawBaw’s BBQ, every plate of brisket comes with a story.
This one started with a note, written by Jimmy McMeans to his wife Audrey. It contained a hand-drawn pig with a simple message: “Be back dreckley. I’m goin’ to smoke!”

“In the south… the older folks say, ‘Well, I’ll be back directly.’ I put it on a sign, sort of picking at Audrey,” Jimmy said. “She didn’t like it, so I had to make it stick, ya know.”
“I didn’t even know what it said when I first read it,” Audrey explained. “When he came up with the idea for the pig, he said ‘I want a pig and I want him to say that, and I want directly spelled just like that. I said, ‘Jimmy, directly is country enough spelled correctly!’”…
