Investigation leads to man arrested for breaking into vehicles in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — An investigation has led to a man being arrested for breaking into vehicles in Decatur.

Decatur Police said that several reports about individuals’ vehicles being broken into were reported to authorities during June.

According to DPD, the incidents took place near the area of Carridale Circle Street SW. Upon further investigation, 42-year-old John Vansteenis was developed as a suspect.

DPD said that officers found Vansteenis on Sunday with some of the stolen property still with him. He was arrested and charged with four counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, theft of property, and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card…
