More tropical downpours and storms through the day Tuesday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Tuesday morning. Skies are overcast early today with some lighter scattered rain showers tracking across the area.

Some pockets of patchy but dense fog can be expected for the morning drive and temperatures are warm out the door in the middle 70s. Today will be another active day as far as rain and storm potential as the upper-level center of low pressure continues to linger over the Tennessee Valley.

Skies should remain cloudy for most of the day with tropical downpours and some occasional thunderstorms developing by late morning and continuing into the afternoon. Given the very saturated airmass in place, rainfall rates can be very high today and lead to possible flash flooding. With the position of the center of low pressure, the greatest rainfall coverage should favor locations along and west of I-65. Showers and storms today will typically move from east to west…
