An Alabama lab that offers diagnostic testing is closing and laying off workers, resulting in the loss of just over 50 jobs.
Diatherix Laboratories, a Huntsville-based company that performs “cutting-edge molecular diagnostic testing services to hospitals and physicians,” announced plans to close and cut jobs at its Huntsville facility through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, notice filed Aug. 4, according to the Alabama Department of Workforce website.
The WARN Act, a federal law enacted in 1988, requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide advance written notice of significant layoffs or plant closings. The law generally requires a 60-day notice to help workers prepare for the loss of employment…
