Veterinarian Katharine Kehrt finds herself dispelling a myth about the rabies vaccine while she’s caring for pets at Animal Medical Clinic in Huntsville.
Some pet owners push back against the vaccination because they have an indoor-only cat or a small dog that only goes out to pee. But Kehrt said even indoor pets are still at risk of contracting rabies, a viral disease that becomes fatal once it attacks the central nervous system.
