HPD: Man charged with murder and aggravated assault after stabbing roommates

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department charged a man with murder and aggravated assault after a stabbing incident on Mountain Gap Road left one woman dead and another victim with life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon.

According to a department spokesperson, HPD arrested Lester Cruz, 27, after they said he stabbed his two roommates.

One of the roommates identified by HPD as Zennella Pena-Sandoval, 40, died at the home while the other roommate was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigators say they believe an argument between the roommates led to the stabbing.

Cruz has been booked into the Madison County Jail where he is being held without bond.
