DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Neighbors said the mess at a Decatur City home is an ongoing problem that started years ago and is only getting worse.
One neighbor who lives directly across the street from 1704 Douthit Street said people in the neighborhood fear for their safety and say city officials have ignored their complaints.

“It’s a rat hole, snake hole and it’s indecent. Something needs to be done because this is the city it’s not the country,” Flora Madry said.
“They got rodents that are running across the street. They have the cats and dogs, they run. They do everything,” Makeba Pettus said.
In the peaceful Terrehaute Avenue community sits beautiful homes surrounded the historic Bell Primitive Baptist Church.
Neighbors say the home is disturbing that peace.

Pettus and her neighbors have lodged several complaints with the City Community Development department about the home that is brimming with stuff, unused wood pallets, a broken-down car and a boat filled with holes.
