1-year-old taken from Decatur found safely, father arrested on domestic violence warrant

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Authorities have safely located a 1-year-old and charged his father after he was taken from Decatur.

On Thursday morning, Decatur Police responded to Decatur Morgan Hospital for a report of domestic assault. When they arrived, officers spoke to a victim who told them her child’s father had left the hospital with the 1-year-old child, later identified as Prince Burge, after threatening violence.

Officials issued an Amber Alert stating Prince was last seen wearing a light blue onesie and a dark brown jacket. The alert said they may be traveling in a white Jeep Wrangler, with a Massachusetts tag number 4SAN14.

As of 11:39 a.m., Prince was safely located in Huntsville.

A domestic violence – third degree assault warrant was issued for the arrest of his father, 33-year-old male Christopher Lynn Burge.

Christopher Burge was taken into custody by the Huntsville Police Department on an outstanding domestic violence – strangulation warrant. He is pending extradition to Decatur.
