Decatur man charged with manslaughter, DUI in connection to May 2023 deadly wreck

LAWERENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Decatur man has been charged in connection to a May 2023 wreck that killed a man.

According to ALEA, Hugo Armando Roman-Ortiz has been charged with manslaughter, DUI, driving without a license, improper lane usage and driving through a traffic control device.

Roman Ortiz was identified in May 2023 by ALEA as the driver of a vehicle involved in a deadly wreck that took the life of Kendall Lee Dean, 48 of Florence. According to ALEA, Dean was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA arrested Roman-Ortiz Thursday morning and took him to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was served with the grand jury warrants.
