Family brings New York style pizza to Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Friday is National Pizza Day.

A family from New York brought their unique flavors to Huntsville from the Big Apple.

Alabama is filled with a variety of places to eat, including pizza restaurants, but Mozza Pizza Shop is quickly making its presence felt.

“We’ve been very thankful. God has really been good to us,” co-owner Tino Durante said.

Mozza Pizza co-owner Thomas Quijada says he and his family are living a dream.

Mozza Pizza has been booming so much that folks just can’t seem to get enough of it. The room is filled from the minute that it opens its doors for the day.

So, what’s the secret? Legend from the expert pizza makers in New York City says it’s all about the tap water, which is known to strengthen the flavor of the gluten in the dough, giving it that x-factor.

“It was a little difficult because the water is different in Huntsville. It makes a huge difference, that’s why you can’t find any good bread or bagels here and I really miss it,” said Quijada.
