Valentine’s treat from the Weather Authority

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After an active start to the week, the high-pressure building is filtering drier air into the region.

Whether you have a Valentine or you’re single, the Weather Authority has a nice Valentine’s treat for you this year!

It will be a chilly start to the so you will need the jackets handy.

Winds will shift more out of the south-southwest during the midmorning helping to filter warmer air into the region. This warm air will help temperatures rise into the low 60s by the afternoon.

With plenty of dry air still in place, we will continue to see sunshine across the entire area! If you have any dinner or outdoor plans the weather will be picture perfect!

Heading towards the weekend, the Weather Authority will be monitoring a system that looks to bring our next chance of showers and cold temperatures.

Climatology For Huntsville:

When looking at climatological records for Valentine’s Day of the past, Huntsville has seen some pretty warm and cold ones!

The coldest Valentine’s Day on record occurred in 1943 when the high temperature in Huntsville only reached 23 degrees. After that bitterly cold year, the coldest ever recorded were in the low 30s.
