ARDMORE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A teenager put her life on the line, bravely saving a handicapped woman from being hit by a train in Ardmore.
Lilly Baker is now being hailed a hero in Giles County after she risked her life with only seconds to act.
“It is really scary to think about how close a train can get to you before you end up dying,” Baker told News 2.
That thought came a little too close to reality for the 18-year-old on Monday, Feb. 5.
“I mean, it was like split second. They all both almost died,” Ardmore Police Chief Jereme Robison stated.

Baker said she saw an elderly woman struggling to cross the train tracks with her wheelchair in Ardmore. After seeing several cars pass by the woman, the teen stepped in to help her.
“As soon as I got towards her, the train started coming and the lights started flashing and the thing started making noises and I was like, ‘Lady, we got to get you out of here,’” she described.
