Local nurse gets new lease on life after heart attack

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Sandra Roberts, a registered nurse at Huntsville Hospital, had an unexpected cardiac event last April.

She was sitting down one Sunday morning watching a virtual church service, and all of a sudden things didn’t feel right.

“Being a nurse, I recognize the symptoms,” she said. I knew what was going on. I was having a heart attack.”

Each day, Roberts works to make sure hospital staff stay healthy, and she practices what she preaches.

“My role here at the hospital is in our wellness program for our employees. So I’ve always felt it was important to maintain those things. To eat healthy and to stay active. So that was that was basically my lifestyle at that point,” Roberts said.

Nonetheless, doctors confirmed Roberts had a heart attack when she arrived at the hospital.
