A spokesperson with the DPD told a News 19 crew on the scene that the man was in custody as of 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. The department said the man is in custody with Alabama Pardons and Paroles. Authorities said no one was injured during the situation.

A spokesperson for the Decatur Police Department said Pardons and Parole were serving an arrest warrant on Oak Lea Road with assistance from officers when an individual barricaded himself.

An officer with Pardons and Paroles said officers had been tipped off by a family member that a man on parole had a firearm he was not legally allowed to have. The officer said that Pardons and Paroles went to investigate the tip and the man refused to leave the home.
