Angels News: Rising Star Caden Dana Earns Monthly Pitching Honors

Caden Dana, the Los Angeles Angels’ top pitching prospect, has made headlines by being named the Southern League’s Pitcher of the Month shortly after his major league debut.

In August, Dana achieved an impressive record of 3-0 with a remarkable 0.57 earned run average, along with 32 strikeouts while playing for the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Dana’s debut came sooner than expected. He took the mound against the Seattle Mariners, making history as the youngest Angels pitcher since Francisco Rodríguez in 2002 and the youngest starting pitcher since Frank Tanana in 1973.

“It’s awesome. That was special. Everyone behind me played well,” said Dana , who struck out four and walked four. “It was a good feeling getting a win like that. Getting a win like that helps going into the next outing.”

He secured a win in his first start, showcasing his potential on the big stage.

In his debut, Dana became the first pitcher aged 20 or younger to pitch at least six innings while allowing two or fewer runs since Jordan Lyles in 2011. In the American League, the last pitcher to achieve this was Joel Davis in 1985.
