Alabama breaks ground on EV Technology Center

A ceremony was held recently to celebrate the launch of construction of a $30 million work force training center at the Alabama Robotics Technology Park near Decatur.

The 40,000-square-foot EV Technology Center will provide the state’s workers with the skills necessary for the production of electric vehicle (EV) and other emerging technologies.

It will ensure the state’s automotive work force is ready to meet the demands of next-generation vehicle production and is a key component of Alabama’s long-term strategy to strengthen its position as a leader in EV innovation and advanced manufacturing.

“Alabama’s auto industry has long been a powerhouse for our economy, and the new EV Technology Center shows our commitment to keeping that engine running strong,” Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair said at the ceremony. “As the industry shifts to electric vehicles, we’re investing in our workforce to ensure they have the next-level skills needed to thrive in this new era of automotive manufacturing.”
