‘We’re trying to make it’: Mother remembers the loss of her son after fatal hit-and-run

DECATUR, Ala. – The family and friends of hit-and-run victim Marquez Williams remembered him and grieved his loss at Point Mallard Park in Decatur today. They launched floating lanterns directly onto the Tennessee River from the park because it was a favorite meetup spot for Williams and one of his closest friends, Terrance Adkins. Adkins is also the co-founder of a local group for racial justice called Standing in Power.
