Woman facing drug trafficking charge after traffic stop in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Huntsville Police Department said that a woman was arrested following a traffic stop that happened on Sunday.

Just before 8 p.m., officers pulled a vehicle over in the area of University Drive NW and Independence Drive NW, for driving a vehicle with an expired tag.

After giving authorities consent to search the vehicle, officers found fentanyl inside of a purse in the vehicle.

HPD told News 19 that Brittney Sapphira Branford, 32, of Huntsville, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance-opium or derivative.

She was booked into the Madison County Jail and was issued a $102,500 bond.
