City of Arab gets rid of outdoor weather sirens

ARAB, Ala. (WAFF) – The City of Arab got rid of their outdoor weather sirens and is focusing more on getting their citizens to use modern and safer technology to get notified about severe weather.

The weather sirens in Arab have been out of service for four to five years. Mayor of Arab Bob Joslin said they got rid of outdoor weather sirens in May 2021, and they have provided safer and convenient options for people to get notifications through weather radios.

“One of the main reasons we did away with them, that technology is probably 30 years old, and it became hard to get parts to repair them,” Joslin said…
