‘Deadly’ tornado hits University of Alabama as NWS issues urgent warning

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Huntsville, Alabama, sounded the alarm at 6:24pm CDT on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with an urgent warning that zeroed in on western Madison County and eastern Limestone County as being in imminent danger.

The tornado was spotted by radar at 6:22pm, just two minutes before the alert, as it barreled through near Madison, tracking eastward at a speed of 35 mph.
