NWS confirms EF-2 tornado trekked across Limestone County into Madison County

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in Limestone County Tuesday evening and made a path into Madison County.

A survey team with the NWS says the EF-2 tornado touched down five miles south-southeast of Athens at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday. It had a path that was 380 yards wide and 13.15 miles long. The tornado had maximum estimated wind speeds of 125 mph.
