Madison home takes brunt of storm damage as family shelters under stairs

MADISON, Ala. — A Madison family is safe after riding out a powerful storm under the stairs of their home during Tuesday’s severe weather outbreak.

The storm hit on May 20, bringing damaging winds and tornado warnings across the Tennessee Valley. One home in the Browns Ferry Crossing subdivision took a direct hit.

FOX54 spoke with the family of four, who said they huddled together under the stairs as strong winds ripped through the area. While nearby homes had less severe damage, theirs appeared to take the brunt of the storm…
