Tennessee-Alabama Border Storm Watch: Severe Weather and Heavy Rain Risk Friday

Huntsville, Alabama – Strong thunderstorms could sweep across northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee this afternoon, bringing the threat of damaging wind gusts, small hail, and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, storms are expected to develop by late Friday afternoon and continue into the evening. Forecasters warn that some of these storms could reach severe levels, especially in areas along and north of the Tennessee River.

Cities including Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, and Athens should prepare for the possibility of 40–60 mph wind gusts, frequent lightning, and downpours that may overwhelm local drainage systems.
