Case of woman accused of taking classified documents from Huntsville office heads to grand jury

A federal grand jury will review the case of a 64-year-old Missile Defense Agency employee accused of taking classified documents.

Ewa Maria Ciszak, a general engineer with the agency, appeared before a federal judge Wednesday for her preliminary hearing. FBI Special Agent Jacob Spoon, who is a lead in the investigation, testified that Ciszak admitted to taking classified materials home. In an official interview with the FBI, she claimed the documents were used to prepare for work presentations.

According to Spoon, Ciszak held a security clearance and underwent regular training on handling classified materials. By agency policy, such documents must remain on-site or in a designated secure facility and be formally signed in and out. However, Spoon said Ciszak had not checked out the documents.
