HUNTSVILLE – Plan before the party. That’s the advice the Huntsville Police Department is giving for motorists during the Fourth of July weekend. Starting Friday, HPD’s DUI Task Force will conduct traffic safety checkpoints as part of its ongoing effort to keep roadways safe during one of the busiest and most dangerous travel times of the year. The Fourth of July holiday is often associated with cookouts, fireworks and family fun – but also, unfortunately, an increase in impaired driving. HPD’s enforcement efforts aim to deter unsafe behavior, prevent crashes and save lives. “Drinking and driving don’t mix,” HPD DUI Task Force Sgt.
