NEW MARKET, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a homicide in New Market.
MCSO said around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a shooting scene at a house in the 200 block of Bent Creek Lane in New Market.
Deputies arrived on the scene and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. MCSO said deputies initiated life-saving measures until HEMSI paramedics arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts, MCSO said 23-year-old Evan Mayomi, from Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
