NASA employees speak out against proposed agency cuts

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Hundreds of current and former NASA employees are speaking out against sweeping cuts to the space agency, warning they could undermine safety, national security, and decades of scientific progress.

In an open letter titled “The Voyager Declaration,” 287 people, including 131 publicly named and 156 anonymous signatories, formally voiced their dissent over what they describe as “rapid and wasteful” policy changes. The letter, addressed to Interim NASA Administrator Duffy, outlines deep concerns about recent decisions affecting staffing, science missions, international partnerships and technical oversight.

“These cuts are arbitrary and have been enacted in defiance of congressional appropriations law,” the letter states. “The consequences for the agency and the country alike are dire.”…
