Several police departments in North Alabama have reported a rise in vehicle break-ins, urging the public to stay alert. Both the Decatur and Huntsville police departments have seen an uptick in these crimes, with Huntsville Police noting 18 break-ins just last week.
“More than half of those vehicles were unlocked,” said Sgt. Chris Jackson from Huntsville Police.
He advices people to ask themselves, “Did I lock my car? Ok, I did lock my car. Did I take all of my valuables out of the car before I got out? If I didn’t, did I hide them? Did I put them where they cannot be seen? If you’ll do that, you’ll see a significant reduction in your chances of someone coming by and breaking into your car.”…
