HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — After multiple residents and city councilmembers raised their concerns over new artificial intelligence technology which could potentially come to Huntsville, FOX54 talked to City Detect CEO/Co-Founder, Gavin Baum-Blake, about their concerns and how the technology works.
Huntsville City Council is considering adding AI Tech to 25 of their garbage trucks. These cameras would help spot code violations within the city. During the city’s council meeting on Thursday, city leaders decided to postpone their decision until later in 2025. People cited concerns with privacy issues along with budgeting aspects, data collection and other items. “Constant video recording of residential areas is invasive,” said Huntsville District 1 City Council Member Michelle Watkins.
Lynn Anderson, a Huntsville resident, said “I believe cameras mounted on a trash trucks is a violation of people’s privacy.” This is surveillance. This is Big Brother.”…
