HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Auburn University’s Applied Research Institute marked a major milestone Monday as the final structural beam was raised during a ceremonial topping out event for its new 50,000-square-foot research facility in Huntsville.
The celebration began with attendees signing the final beam, followed by remarks from Mayor Tommy Battle, Dr. Steve Taylor, senior vice president for research and economic development at Auburn University, and Justin Lanfair, project executive for Turner Construction Company. The beam was then lifted into place, symbolizing the near completion of the state-of-the-art facility.
The project broke ground in March 2024 and is owned by the Industrial Development Board of Huntsville. Fuqua & Partners Architects designed the facility, and Turner Construction Company serves as the construction manager.
