Huntsville Police to crack down on risky driving in school zones with ‘Zero in the Zone’ initiative

With the start of the new school year just days away for many in North Alabama, the Huntsville Police Department is putting student safety at the forefront with its new initiative, Zero in the Zone. Police say this month-long back-to-school campaign aims to eliminate school zone crashes and risky driving behaviors.

“The safety of our students is non-negotiable,” Police Chief Kirk Giles said. “School zones exist for a reason, and our department has a zero-tolerance policy for speeding or distracted driving in and around these areas.”
