Owens Cross Roads Lions Club donates $3,600 to Police Department

OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (WHNT) — The Lions Club of Owens Cross Roads is making sure the Police Department has what it needs to help save lives.

Tuesday night, the Club presented the Police Department with a $3,600 check to pay for replacement pads on AED machines.

Sergeant Jase Bakker with the Owens Cross Roads Police Department told News 19 that last year the department received a grant to pay for 6 AED machines. Those machines are now in the back of every OCR Police cruiser.

“We immediately put those into service, but as we used them, but as we used them we realized that the replacement pads for the AED machines are rather expensive,” Bakker said. “It looked like every time we deployed an AED to save a life, it was going to cost us somewhere in the area of $237 to replace the parts that we used.”…
